Manchester United superstar and living soccer legend, Ryan Giggs, 38, has added pressure on Robert Mancini’s stupidly expensive squad, by suggesting that they are odds-on favourite to win the title race.
Giggs, much like his mentor, Sir Alex Ferguson, is well versed at playing mind games with the opposition.
According to The Daily Mail, Giggs said: “I think in most people’s eyes they’re favourites because they’re top of the league, and because of the quality they’ve got, and the football they played early-season. It’s just down to which team handles it best.”
“With the quality they’ve got, we knew that they were going to be right up there. But as well as putting all those players together, they needed to have that consistency, which you can see they’ve developed now because they’re top of the league.”
Giggs further suggested that his side, unlike Manchester City, probably has the right blend of experience and youth to once again finish in the top spot.
“I think the experience of doing it before, with the manager is key. They’ve got a lot of experience, they’ve got players who’ve won things. But we like to think we’ve got a good mix of experience and hunger,” Giggs added.
A potential title-decider materializes on April 28, when Manchester City host last year’s English champions at the Etihad.
