Former Manchester United forward and England legend, Teddy Sheringham, has certainly not lost his competitive spirit despite having retired from professional soccer many years ago.
Playing in a charity match to raise funds for Unicef, Sheringham ploughed into the back of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.
Sheringham proceed to rub his hand over Ramsay’s face, oblivious to the fact that the chef was in agonizing pain.
Ramsay was given oxygen and taken off in a stretcher.
He then was sent to the hospital where he was released several hours after.
A spokesperson for the celebrity chef said:
Gordon was taken to hospital after injuring his back during the game. He was released after receiving treatment and although he’s in pain today, there shouldn’t be any long term damage.
Also suffering injury in the charity match was comedian Will Ferrell. Unlike Ramsay though, the star of Anchorman managed to limp off the field without help or assistance.
Sheringham’s clumsy tackle on Ramsay is reminiscent of when Boris Johnson, Mayor of London, rugby tackled German Maurizio Gaudino, also during a charity match.
